Sunday 17th May saw the 2009 Irish 1/8th scale off road Championship swing into action again, and 41 drivers entered at Navan to compete on the superb all weather facility. The Navan club have done fantastic work over the summer to produce a track which compares to the best in the UK.
Chris McCauley took the upper hand in qualifying in the truggy class driving the Losi 8ight-T, but nothing could stop Modeltune/Mirage driver Bradley Baird in the final - not even a flame out before the start which saw him missing the first two laps. By lap 12 Bradley had fought his way back to second in the field, the Xray only touching the track in spots! Meanwhile Chris was having less joy with the few minor mistakes he made punishing him every time. By lap 22, Bradley was in front and maintained this hard won lead until the end of the race, with Chris taking 3rd from Oisin O'Brien of Red RC fame. |
