Michael Todd is undefeated this season with some truely impressive drives displayed around both Aghalee and Navan. With the Paddy Piston race only a just around the corner, Michael will want to maintain his clean sweep and retain his title from last year, though with drivers of the caliber of Drescher, Bloomfield, Taylor and Barton in attendence - it will be the toughest challenge yet. We though we would share with you some of the gear on a winning pit table:
1 - Losi 8ight 2.0 - Michael couldn't be happier with the new Losi car. With many refinements over its predecessor, the car has more steering, generates more grip, flies better and rides the bumps with ease - what more could you want?
2 - XBG Tires (A7763) - are one of Michael's favourite choices around the BADMCC track, though there will always be a range of Losi tires on his table ready to go depending on the conditions. 3 - Dynamite Platinium .21 Engine - not many other 8 port engines with an RRP of £145.99 can claim the track record of this one - no one would claim Michael's car has been underpowered this season, and the engines have ran flawlessly in both Buggy and Truggy class - must say the performance and reliability of this little engine surprised us all! 4 - Byron 30% Race Fuel - a little hotter than the 25% used by most drivers, but with some careful attention to the head shiming on your engine (probably add a shim) the high nitro content combined with byrons unique oil blend at 11% provides extra power without compromising reliability - we still recommend Byron 25% Race Fuel for most club racing applications. 5 - KO Vantage Esprit III 2.4 - The radio is the key link between the driver and what the car does on the track. This advanced crystalless technology maximises response times, minimises interference, and offers so many features to set the radio to your preferences, that if this radio doesn't have it, it probably doesn't exist! Its no coincidence many of the world's top drivers use KO. 6 - Losi Camber Gauge (A99172) - A very handy and accurate pit table tool just to make sure your cambers are accurate between runs - also a good indicator of worn balljoints if your cambers are moving after every run - perhaps just saving you a breakdown in that big A final! 7 - Losi Ride Height Gauge (A99173) - Once you have used this little device, you will never go back to the old ruler or traditional ride height gauge. As Michael will tell you, ride height is one of the most critical adjustments on your buggy impacting the way the car corners, rides the bumps, jumps and lands. The losi gauge allows you to read accurately on the tool's scale the ride height based on a flat part of the chassis - a real trick part for the pit table. 8 - Losi Fuel Gun (A99070) - The Speed-Shot will fill a 1/8 buggy tank in 1 second flat, and fill a 1/8 truggy tank in a few tenths (.1) of a second more - this is key with multiple pitstops in long finals - might just get you that bump up or a extra place in the final. 9 - Tornado After Run Oil (TOR16099) - Michael, and many other top drivers get a few drops of this after run oil into the engine and carb, and back on the starter box for a few seconds before packing the car up to bring home. This protects the engine interior from moisture, and prolongs engine life. At £2-49, there is no excuse for this not being in everyones pit box. 10 - Losi Fuel Bottle (AB5201) - Even with the speed and accuracy of a fuel gun, a top notch fuel bottle is also required to fill the gun between stops - the Losi bottle hits the spot. |
