Mark Harron with his OS powered Hotbodies D8 came out on top of round one of the RCCAOI National 1/8th Buggy Championship - but only just after the closest and most exciting final I have ever seen.
Michael Todd driving his Losi powered EU spec 8ight provided a spectacular challenge to Mark, with never more than 10 seconds between the two cars. It more more exciting than the F1 when they entered the pits Mark, Michael and exited Michael, Mark - but still nose to tail (mention must go to the pitmen Mervyn, John and Keith). After 45 minutes of thrilling action, Mark took the flag by 2 seconds from Michael - 45 minutes of eductaton to the rest of us - how it should be done! Andrew White drove superbly bumping up from the B final (PT failed in 2 rounds of qualifying) to finish third and complete the podium - at most championship rounds this would have been the drive of the day! Aaron Vance continued his recent indoor form, dominating round one of the Truggy Championship with his Losi 8T 2.0, from Roger Skelly's and Oisin O'Briain in third - a Losi clean sweep. So well done to Navan Nitro Nuts on a great event, great weather and a great final. |
